The St. Peter Armory serves 120-140 National Guard citizen-soldiers on a training weekend and hosts public events throughout the year. Due to deferred maintenance, system life-cycle expiration, building code advances, and advanced training needs, the 16,900 SF facility needed a major renovation. A detailed space study and predesign charrette addressed the facility’s shortfalls, and the renovation reconfigured and updated the armory. The final scope included new restrooms and locker rooms, accessibility improvements, mechanical system upgrades, a new sprinkler system, a commercial kitchen remodel, a new weapons vault, a new roof with added insulation, new windows and exterior doors, and all new interior finishes. Sitework included new parking, security fencing, anti-terrorism force protection improvements, and landscaping. Working closely with National Guard leadership, the team delivered an on-time and on-budget project made possible through rigorous quality control reviews and thorough cost estimating.
