Trout Brook Interceptor

The Capitol Region Watershed District (CRWD) commissioned TKDA to develop a ten-year Capital Improvement Plan and hydraulic analysis of the Trout Brook Interceptor. Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES) conveyed the Trout Brook Interceptor to CRWD after sewer separation projects eliminated sanitary sewer flows from the line.

After completing the study, CRWD commissioned TKDA to reconstruct a 240-foot-long segment that had settled approximately 3.5 feet due to soil conditions below the pipe. The reconstruction involved installing 32 pile caps on 64 pilings to support the 96-inch diameter pipe on a very tight site on Burlington Northern Railroad right-of-way between the tracks and an adjacent apartment complex.
