The Civil Air Patrol – Minnesota Wing training campus at the Hutchinson Municipal Airport, named Camp Craig, is based on the design program developed by TKDA. Vacant, undeveloped land on airport property was utilized for the new training campus, and we worked closely with the City of Hutchinson and Civil Air Patrol to facilitate FAA Section 163 review of non-aeronautical development.
The program involves two structures, the first being a 100-foot by 80-foot aircraft hangar with an office space, a restroom, and a utility room. The second structure is a 14,000 SF training facility that houses classrooms, a dining room, offices, barracks, restrooms, showers, and a commercial kitchen. We provided project formulation, design, and construction management services for the development. The project was fully funded by a state grant. Our team collaborated with the City of Hutchinson and MnDOT Aeronautics to coordinate construction activities and administer the grant funding.
