Ruth Christensen Named to TKDA Board of Directors
Longtime employee and company leader Ruth Christensen, PE, SE, has joined TKDA’s board of directors.
Ruth has been with our firm for more than two decades and has led the structural group for the past 15 years. She provides design and project management leadership on projects for our top clients. Her work spans a wide variety of markets, including industrial and manufacturing, government/municipal projects, rail/mass transit, and education. She has contributed considerable design and structural analysis expertise to TKDA during her tenure.
“I was always fascinated by big structures when I was growing up,” Ruth says. “I spent hours at the library trying to learn how they worked.” She remembers attending a “Girls in Engineering and Technology” event when she was in sixth grade. “When I was first introduced to the field of civil engineering, I immediately knew that structural engineering was the discipline for me!” She carries that enthusiasm into her role as group manager, where she enjoys helping her staff solve particularly challenging structural engineering problems.
Ruth earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Minnesota. She is a member of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying, as well as the American Institute of Steel Construction.
She looks forward to helping to chart TKDA’s path toward achieving its strategic goals for growth in her new position.
“We are fortunate to have Ruth’s talents and perspective in our company. She brings diverse stakeholders together for the best results in design and structural solutions, and she will bring that diplomacy and creativity to our board,” said Tom Stoneburner, TKDA President/CEO and board chair.
