TKDA renovated and updated 3,800 SF of the existing classroom and kitchen used by the Culinary Arts program to create a state-of-the-art culinary experience for students and the flexibility to provide short-term training for multiple community stakeholders. The area consisted of three rooms originally built in 1966 to accommodate much smaller class sizes. The renovation laid out the rooms into a more efficient and functional space that will safely accommodate larger classes. The current exhaust system cited by the Fire Department did not meet fire codes and was limiting the type of food preparation methods that could be taught in the curriculum. The new exhaust now meets the fire code. The project also included new kitchen equipment to improve energy use.
