ACEC/MN Awards TKDA Two Grand Awards
The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Runway Conversion to Dual Use Taxiway and the Dale Street Bridge Reconstruction projects both received Grand Awards at the American Council of Engineering Companies of Minnesota’s Engineering Excellence Awards banquet.
TKDA led the design for the Metropolitan Airports Commission Runway Conversion to Dual Use Taxiway project as the engineer-of-record and construction coordinator, collaborating with the contractor, Egan Company. The team designed a carefully phased complex project to install a dual lighting system and associated electrical controls allowing Runway 4-22 to be utilized as either a runway or a taxiway.
TKDA also led the engineering design for the Ramsey County Dale Street Bridge Reconstruction project, working with Braun Intertec, Redstone Construction, Springboard for the Arts, and artists Mica Lee Anders, Hawona Sullivan Janzen, and GE Patterson. The team combined a unique blend of engineering innovation, art, and community input to create a structure with vastly improved geometrics and one that honors the Rondo neighborhood of the past, present, and future.
The annual ACEC/MN banquet recognizes engineering firms and their clients on successful projects that provide value to the community while demonstrating creativity and a high level of accomplishment.
