Facilities
The facilities we design are environments for linking people to the technology, tools, and systems needed to work productively. Our architects and interior designers design new facilities and major renovations for our clients nationwide. Our integrated team has the expertise and experience to work on control rooms, building hardening for blast protection, laboratories, fleet maintenance facilities, parking ramps, warehouse and distribution centers, clean rooms, office and workplace areas, utility service centers, vehicle storage facilities, locker rooms, cafeterias, and breakrooms. At TKDA, we deliver high-quality results that serve our clients well beyond the completion of a new facility, renovation, expansion, or restoration project.
Water Treatment
Water is a valuable resource and managing it is becoming more and more vital within our clients’ facilities. Our experts have process water experience combined with an in-depth knowledge of advanced treatment processes and environmental regulations. For decades, we have assisted industries with drinking water storage, ground water and process wastewater treatment, permitting coordination, and process water needs by developing solutions that give companies a competitive edge. Overall, our solutions aim to enhance the reliability, efficiency, and sustainability of water systems while minimizing the impact on the environment and local communities.
Studies, Planning, and Modeling
Through planning, assessments, and modeling, our team of engineers and architects help our clients save money, improve efficiencies, and enhance overall operations. Energy studies, planning, and modeling are strategic processes that help organizations plan for the future of their physical spaces and deliver valuable insights into how building systems operate to identify potential improvement areas. Our team provides the information our clients need to make informed decisions about the safety, functionality, and life-cycle costs of their structures, mechanical, and electrical systems. We work with clients to implement energy-saving measures that reduce energy consumption and promote sustainable and environmentally friendly facilities.
Civil, Site, and Infrastructure
The availability of TKDA’s in-house civil engineering group facilitates the coordination of district energy distribution design with site design to produce cohesive and unified projects. We provide site engineering and landscape architecture services for a broad range of client needs, including site evaluations, stormwater management, water utility distribution and rehabilitation, pavement management, and industrial track design. From site master planning to utility distribution design, our civil engineers have the design capabilities and project management talents to make client sites function effectively.
Balance of Plant
Our energy team offers a broad range of balance of plant services for our clients to cultivate optimal performance and safety across various systems. By integrating our team with architectural, mechanical, electrical, controls, water/wastewater, and structural engineers and specialists, we support our clients in developing efficient and safe operations. Our mechanical and electrical services include plumbing, compressed and specialty gas system design, high-energy piping system and stress analysis, HVAC design, combustible dust management, fire protection, standby and normal power distribution systems, and control systems solutions. Additionally, our structural analysis and design capabilities create robust and reliable infrastructure.
Sustainability
TKDA takes a comprehensive approach to sustainability that not only advances energy efficiency, waste reduction, and carbon impact across the buildings and infrastructure we design but also considers employee and community wellness, along with sustained financial health for our stakeholders. Our projects incorporate active and passive solar strategies, daylighting and daylighting controls, geothermal, and solar-thermal heating. We also utilize photovoltaic arrays, fresh-air intake preheating, water reuse, vegetative roofs, efficient building orientation strategies, and high-performance envelope, roof, and glazing design. At TKDA, we continually explore and research the ever-changing options that allow for energy savings and sustainable designs that reflect our clients’ values of environmental stewardship. TKDA has accredited LEED professionals to support design of both new construction and existing building renovations to achieve any desired level of LEED registration.
Process Design and Integration
Our fully integrated energy team excels in delivering design services for our clients. We offer comprehensive process system design solutions such as hazardous vapor systems, dust collection systems, mitigation systems, process P&ID development, process line integration, steam and water high pressure piping systems, and thermal oxidizers to reduce emissions, keep operating costs down, improve product quality, and maintain safety standards. We also have expertise in instrumentation and control systems and developing process control narratives, communication, and network architecture designs to help our clients improve their day-to-day operations.
Central Plant and Energy
At TKDA, we specialize in delivering multi-disciplined and comprehensive central plant and energy solutions. We are experienced working with systems in utility power plants, district energy plants, campus central energy plants, and building central plants.
