Lexington Parkway Realignment Wins Honor Award

The Lexington Parkway Realignment project received an Honor Award at the American Council of Engineering Companies of Minnesota’s Engineering Excellence Banquet.

In a collaborative effort, Ramsey County, the City of Saint Paul, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) recognized the need to improve vehicle and pedestrian mobility by removing Lexington Parkway from the congested five-way intersection at Montreal Avenue and West 7th Street. TKDA provided design, public engagement, and construction administration services for the new Lexington Parkway realignment. The realignment lines up with Elway Street to provide a continuous regional connection from Shepard Road to Lexington Parkway.

The new intersection of Lexington Parkway and West 7th Street includes a signal, and the intersection of Lexington Parkway with Montreal Avenue has a mini-roundabout, marking this as Saint Paul’s first roundabout. This project not only showcases innovative design and engineering techniques but also emphasizes community and stakeholder engagement. The result is a significant improvement in vehicular and pedestrian mobility and the replacement of aging infrastructure.

The annual ACEC/MN banquet recognizes engineering firms and their clients on successful projects that provide value to the community while demonstrating creativity and a high level of accomplishment.
