TKDA worked with the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) to develop a Capital Projects Placement Plan for the Nine Springs Wastewater Treatment Plant 160-acre campus. The campus includes 42 structures, totaling approximately 355,416 SF. The purpose of the planning exercise is to evaluate current facilities and infrastructure and assess the ability of these facilities to support the MMSD’s new strategic plan. The plan will identify the preferred location of new office and operations facilities, and infrastructure projects with consideration for growth in personnel and services; changes in treatment processes and energy infrastructure; and staff mobility, safety, and wellness.
The Capital Projects Placement Plan aligns with the MMSD’s Strategic Plan, including the performance areas of adaptation, financial sustainability, infrastructure reliability, regulatory compliance, strategy execution, workforce development, and public trust. The Capital Projects Placement Plan taps into a multi-disciplinary team of TKDA architects, landscape architects, engineers, GIS staff, and planners.
