The Luverne Readiness Center serves up to 110 National Guard soldiers on training weekends and hosts public events throughout the year. The facility includes a large assembly hall that supports National Guard activities and community functions. Other spaces include offices, classrooms, a learning center, an exercise room, locker rooms, a commercial kitchen, equipment storage, an arms vault, and high-bay vehicle maintenance bays.
The facility has a functional floor plan, durable interior finishes, an energy-efficient mechanical system, LED lighting with occupancy/vacancy controls, vehicle lots, and on-site photovoltaic (PV) renewable energy generation. Due to the site’s openness, the landscape design is highly functional. Wind-row plantings will block prevailing winter winds and screen views to adjacent industrial uses. The site preserved the natural stream and wetland system, and the stormwater mitigates any post-development run-off. Overall, the facility and site design aim to meet functional needs while having low long-term maintenance and operating costs.
