After the City of Morris responded to a local business requesting a longer runway, TKDA completed an airport master plan study. Our team worked with the City and the business’s flight department to prepare documentation to justify a runway extension to 4,900 feet and receive concurrence from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). A public and agency involvement plan helped develop consensus on the short-term action plan. The airport planning study recommended an 898-foot runway extension, apron expansion, and closure of the crosswind runway in the next five years that required $6M in Federal funding. We prepared a realistic funding plan to help secure the required FAA funds to fast-track the short-term airport development project.
