Northfield Truck Station

To improve operational efficiency and workplace safety, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) needed to relocate operations from an existing undersized and aged facility in downtown Northfield to a new site. Our team designed the new campus following MnDOT Truck Station Standards to accommodate larger fleet vehicles and comply with regulatory codes. After recognizing the need for sustainable design and energy efficiency, MnDOT implemented the Minnesota Sustainable Building Guidelines to re-evaluate systemwide design practices and develop a standard model for future facilities.

The 8,540 SF truck station includes a crew room, a storage room, fleet bays, offices, restrooms, locker rooms, mechanical space, and dedicated circulation to improve efficiency, safety, and daily operations. The site design included access roadways, parking, utilities, a retention pond, a stormwater infiltration basin, landscaping, security fencing, and site amenities.
